We have yet to find out the sex of the kitten…we won’t find that out until we bring it to the vet. We want to wait on bringing it to the vet until it is better adjusted to us and until we have held it. In the mean-time, we need to decide on a name. Let us know your thoughts. The kitten is mostly black with white paws and white under the stomach and white around its nose.
Here are some names we thought of:
We found captured her on the 4th of July so here are some patriotic names:
1) Indy (short for Indepedence Day)
2) Philly (short for Philadephia where the bells were rung on July 4th)
3) Patty/Patriot
Other names that have to do with its coloring…black and white:
1) Jackson
2) Oreo
Any other ideas? Your comments and suggestions are welcome!

Hi, thanks for best answer on Yahoo Answers. You are doing wonderfully well ! I’ve helped socialise quite a few feral kittens but it usually takes quite a while.
I love the name Indy, it would be good for a male or a female. You seem to know by instinct what to do, I do admire you ! Yes it’s best not to pick them up too soon as it can undo all your good work in building their trust in you. When you do get the kitten to a vet, please don’t let him talk you into declawing him/her. I don’t know how you feel about declawing but I do know through being a vet nurse that it cripples cats for life.
When I volunteered for Cats Protecion we had a trap cage to catch ferals, we always put sardines in tomato sauce to lure them in.It is scary for them being trapped but it’s always best for kittens to be rescued for a better life.
I’d love to follow your blog and see how your kitten goes on and if you catch the other kitten.
Good luck

Ruth,
Thanks for your response! I’ll keep updating on here and we too hope we can catch the other kitten…already the other kitten is 2 days behind in socializing as the kitten we caught is. Also, with each day that goes by the changes of us being able to tame it get less and less…its sad. We so badly want to find the other one. We went last night and couldn’t find it anywhere. We’ll look again each day. I’ve also called the Humane Society to see if they’ll come and catch the feral cats to spay/neuter them and release them again to their home. We’ll see what they say.
I’m going to make a new post on what happened an hour ago – the kitten let me pet it and it purred! WOW!!! I keep praying that God will help us to help this kitten and I am so impressed with how this kitty is doing so far.

That is wonderful, that the kitten let you stroke it and actually purred !!! Yes every day that goes by the other kitten has less chance of a better life with you. I hope the humane society will help you with the older ferals, it is a trauma for them being trapped and neutered but they soon get over it. Hopefully they will trap the other kitten for you too.
Good luck, keep up the good work.
